Control of wood quality
XTRAOAK products are exclusively produced with new oak woods with "cooperage" quality.

They all come from French and American stave mills carefully selected all along our 25 years experience. Selecting criteria are :
  • Selected species : Quercus Sessiflora and Quercus Robur (for French oak); Quercus Alba (for American oak)
  • Air-seasoning up to 36 months
  • "Merrain" type without sap nor bark
Control of toasting process
Our experience and knowledge of wood allow us to adapt our toasting process for optimum result.

Careful toasting with hot air and control of aroma profiles by adjusting duration and temperature ensure homogeneity and the best oak aroma expression.
Quality control and traceability
  • We manage our woods in terms of origin, air-seasoning and quality. Wood batches are fully traced.
  • Toasting parameters are registered.
  • Batch numbers allow tracing from the original forest.
  • Our process of manufacturing American oak products is HACCP verified by Bureau Veritas;
  • Our process of manufacturing French oak products is HACCP verified by AFNOR.
  • Our analyses plan is strictly established and followed regarding oak wood aromatic compounds as well as chemicals.
Research & Development
We constantly call on our R&D teams’ services in order to :
  • improve XTRAOAK products quality (wood and process),
  • follow up wine aging experiments (finished products behavior),
  • Develop new products to match our clients requirements.
